Allied health at home: therapy that fits around your life

For many participants, the hardest part of therapy isn't the therapy itself — it's getting there. Long drives, waiting rooms and unfamiliar environments can turn a one-hour appointment into a full-day effort.

In-home allied health flips that around. An occupational therapist can assess your actual kitchen, bathroom and routines, which means their recommendations are based on your real life, not a clinic simulation. Physiotherapists can design exercise programs around the furniture and spaces you already have. Speech pathologists can work on communication goals during the meals and conversations you have every day.

Therapeutic supports sit under the capacity-building part of most NDIS plans. If your plan includes funding for improved daily living or improved health and wellbeing, there's a good chance in-home therapy can be part of it.

Nova Cares works with registered allied health professionals across the regions we serve. Talk to your support coordinator or get in touch with our team to find out what's available near you.
