Plan reviews, made simple: how to walk in prepared

Plan reviews are one of the most important moments in your NDIS journey — and one of the most misunderstood. Many participants arrive at a review hoping the planner will simply see what they need. In our experience, the reviews that go best are the ones where the participant (or their family) arrives with a clear story.
Start with your goals, not your funding. The NDIS funds supports that help you pursue the goals in your plan, so before your review, write down two or three things you want the next twelve months to look like. Be specific: 'I want to catch the bus to my art class on my own' is far more useful than 'I want to be more independent'.
Gather evidence early. Ask your support workers, therapists and GP for short reports that describe what's working and what isn't. A two-paragraph letter from an occupational therapist can carry more weight than a long conversation.
Finally, remember you can bring someone with you. A family member, advocate or support coordinator can help you stay on track and make sure nothing important gets missed. If you're a Nova Cares participant, your coordinator will help you prepare — just ask.
